The original plans for Champion Plaza included a large facility at our Central Campus that would include a counseling center, a thrift store, and more that would serve the community.
While the vision of Champion Plaza has not changed, the actualization of it has shifted as we have gone further down the road in making it a reality. Instead of one center housed at our Central Campus, we are going to see elements of Champion Plaza at our campuses across the city of San Antonio.
Beginning with our Southside and Central campuses, we hope to see the people of San Antonio served in a way that the one center alone would not have as effectively accomplished. Breakthrough Employment Job Placement Center will be housed at our Southside campus, with a launch in 2025. Our Central campus has undergone renovations to better accommodate CBC Cares, which is our lay-counseling program. With these changes, we hope to serve more people who are in need of jobs and who are seeking counseling care.
We hope that one day God will reopen the door for us to build the facility that we have dreamed of, but sometimes we must let go of a good thing to make room for the best thing. And for our church and community, we truly believe that these next steps are going to best reach the city of San Antonio in the name of Jesus.
